The energy of trees and other plants can be obtained by anaerobic fermentation of biomass in biogas reactors to produce methane (CH4) or by burning wood with oxygen(O2) deficiency and producing combustible gas (pyrolysis). Trees are also a source of food and building materials for animals and humans.

We must not destroy it, but maintain and improve it. It makes no sense to spend huge resources on the exploration of the Moon and Mars until we restore order in our land. Otherwise, we cannot survive.
